The Stray Dog Crisis
Mumbai is estimated to have over 5 lakh stray dogs. While many coexist peacefully with humans, a significant number suffer from injuries caused by road accidents, fights, infections, skin diseases, and malnutrition. Without intervention, these animals endure prolonged suffering.
How Our Dog Shelter Operates
Sarwar Peace Trust runs a dedicated dog shelter that rescues injured and abandoned dogs from across Mumbai. Each rescued animal undergoes a thorough veterinary examination, receives treatment for injuries and diseases, is vaccinated and sterilised, and is given nutritious food and a safe shelter to recover in.
Adoption and Fostering
Our ultimate goal is to find every rescued dog a loving forever home. We run an active adoption program that carefully matches dogs with suitable families. For dogs awaiting adoption, we offer fostering opportunities where temporary caregivers provide a home environment during recovery.
