Rescuing and Rehabilitating Stray Animals in Mumbai

The Plight of Stray Animals in Mumbai

Mumbai's streets are home to hundreds of thousands of stray dogs and cats. Many of these animals suffer from injuries, diseases, malnutrition, and neglect. Without proper care and intervention, their suffering continues unchecked, and the lack of animal welfare infrastructure makes it worse.

How SPT's Animal Welfare Program Works

Sarwar Peace Trust runs a dedicated animal rescue and rehabilitation program. Our team of trained volunteers and partner veterinarians respond to distress calls, rescue injured and abandoned animals, provide immediate medical treatment, and offer long-term shelter and care. We also conduct vaccination and sterilisation drives to control the stray population humanely.

Stories of Rescue and Recovery

Since 2022, we have rescued over 500 animals — primarily dogs — treating injuries ranging from fractures and infections to severe malnutrition. Many of the animals we rescue are eventually adopted into loving homes. Others, who cannot be rehomed, are given permanent shelter, food, and medical care at our facilities.

Join the Cause

You can help by volunteering at our rescue drives, fostering an animal, or making a financial contribution. Every ₹2,500 funds a complete animal rescue operation including veterinary care, food, and shelter. Support Animal Welfare
