The Growing Waste Problem
Urban waste management is one of Mumbai's most pressing challenges. Overflowing garbage bins, littered streets, and polluted beaches not only degrade the environment but also pose serious health hazards to residents. Many low-income communities lack access to regular waste collection services.
SPT's Cleanliness Drives
Sarwar Peace Trust conducts regular beach cleanups, street cleaning drives, and waste segregation awareness campaigns. Our volunteers, often numbering in the dozens, come together every month to clean public spaces, sort recyclable materials, and educate residents about responsible waste disposal.
Teaching Sustainability
Beyond picking up trash, we focus on long-term behavioural change. We distribute waste bins to households, conduct workshops in schools about recycling, and partner with local municipal bodies to improve waste collection in underserved areas. Our initiatives have visibly improved cleanliness in several neighbourhoods.
